Patience Is More Than A Virtue
“Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you’re waiting.”
Patience is a virtue. Well at least that is what we have always been told. One of the more challenging areas in the self management realm is that of being patient whether it is being patient during a traffic jam when you are already running late or dealing with your unruly child in the middle of a mall. Each of these and many other examples can definitely be a challenge to say the least no matter how long you have been practicing your self control skills.
In today’s quote the author says that with patience it is really how you act while you’re waiting that is key. Everyone has that ability to wait whether you think so or not. The challenge lies in being able to follow through with it and conduct yourself accordingly. On developgoodhabits.com they list 11 Ways We Can All Be More Patient that I hope you find helpful the next time you have to patiently wait for something and know how to act:
1. Start to Wait for Things on Purpose
2. Explore Your Triggers
3. Put Unimportant Things Aside
4. Practice Mindfulness
5. Respond, Don’t React
6. Devote an Entire Day to Being Patient
7. Practice Pausing Before Speaking
8. Use the Time Wisely
9. Take Some Deep Breaths
10. Understand That Being Irritated Is Addicting
11. Change Your Story
So try one or more of these ways today and see how much more patient you can become.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
