“From pain can come wisdom, from fear can come courage, from suffering can come strength—if we have the virtue of resilience.”
-Eric Greitens
Everything that we experience in life, even those things that are deemed to be most painful have a silver lining within them is we look hard enough. As Eric Greitens mentions in today’s quote the pain we encounter can lay down the foundation for us to gain wisdom which can’t be acquired from a book. It is through hands on encounters. The things that we may fear, when faced head on can lead to bouts of courage. Suffering can lead to us towards acquiring greater strength to face future challenges.
The beauty in each of these examples is that they all have one thing in common: we are the ones that are truly in control of our responses to them. We are the ones that choose whether to learn from our experiences or continue to make the same mistakes time and time again. When we exhibit resilience and learn that through sheer will and grit that we shall rise above any obstacle it is then and only then that we truly become the conductor of our own lives and the direction that we want to go.
