Partners With The People
“In the past a leader was a boss. Today’s leaders must be partners with their people…they no longer can lead solely based on positional power.”
-Ken Blanchard
The term equity is often used now a days more so than it ever has. However I’m not here to have an in depth conversation about it with all of its varying insights. The part of equity that I am focusing on is the premise of today’s quote by author and speaker Ken Blanchard on how we as leaders must be partners with others and that position no longer matters. In adapting this type of philosophy one must come to the realization that a title such as a Principal or CEO is just really a title as it is the actions that occur behind this title that make the person.
In education we often promote to families that we are partners in their child’s education. We need to acknowledge that this partnership extends beyond an organization and should encompass all facets of our lives which includes our interactions with everyone. We are all leaders and no one is more important or valuable than another person. This world can only continue to get better when we do things together.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
