The Key To a Happy and Healthy Life

     Many have often wondered what the key is to having a happy and healthy life?  Is driving fancy cars? Is it the number of houses or boats you own? The amount of money you accumulate within your lifetime? The answer to each of these questions I would hope would be a resounding no. None of these can you take with you when you take your last breath and when you really think about it, these are temporary states of happiness that will not last. When you have a brand new car or a new home how long does that happiness, that newness last? A few months perhaps? It does not have that long lasting happiness that leads to that healthy lifestyle we all seek. Entrepreneur Guy Bieber reminds us that it all comes down to the good relationships we have with others that gives us true happiness.

The good relationships we work to establish with others is crucial before, during and after the current pandemic we are in. Despite whether we are still in quarantine or not it is up to us to maintain those relationships and keep those lines of communication and contact open. The contact does not have to be physical. It can be through calling those you love on the phone, texting them or even Zooming/Face Timing them. We need relationships with others and others need to have relationships with us. We are all connected and it is up to us to maintain that connectiveness. It needs to be equal effort on both sides because our happiness, our long lasting health, depends on it. The health side of things first starts off mentally and has an effect on our physical state as well.

When we take the time to engage socially and work on building, strengthening our relationships we are building our mental muscle because like the classic Say No To Drugs commercial said, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” So waste no more time in establishing a happy and healthy life through establishing and maintaining good relationships. And it should go without saying, but make sure that before having good relationships with others, have a good relationship with yourself. If you can’t be happy with yourself then who can you truly be happy with?
