Our Moral Compass: What We Should Pray For Most

“Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.”

-Reverend Phillips Brooks

Whether you are religious or not prayer or even faith in something is a powerful thing. When we believe in something it can serve as a valuable asset in facing any challenges that you may be facing with in life. In today’s quote Reverend Phillips Brooks encourages us not to pray for easy lives but prayer to be stronger men. Now I believe this by no means should be limited to just men but praying for strength is for everyone to engage in. I realize that praying for an easier life is in essence would be a less challenging road to travel but we need to realize this may be one prayer that will never be answered. There is not always a way around certain pain or challenges as sometimes we just have endure and go through them to overcome and be on top.

Life is going to be a struggle at times. So if I had one prayer to hopefully have answered it is that I continually acquire the skillsets in learning and growing in order to face life’s daily challenges and become stronger to handle things because of it. Pillars of strength are the building blocks to overcoming any obstacle. They are within each of us to utilize if we make the decision to tap into these resources. We don’t get a chance to choose the things that life may throw in our direction but we can choose our response to it. This is what we can control. So let’s put our faith into that.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
