What Will Always Come To Our Aid
“Numbers will never come to our aid. People will.”
-Simon Sinek
Throughout our childhood when we ever had needed help with something at school or at home it is my sincere hope you had someone that was there to help aid you in your time in need. We learned over time that we are able to rely on others and through this process it strengthens our relationship skills. When we become older some of us lose sight of this as we become more engrossed within our jobs, the expectations/demands that come with it like hitting certain numbers for instance that will lead our organization towards receiving some sort of monetary aid that makes our jobs easier. This type of aid comes with a price tag however that in the long run doesn’t have long staying power unlike the relationships we have with others does.
Author and motivational speaker Simon Sinek reminds us of this in today’s quote that it is people and not numbers that will come to our aid in our time of need. The relationships we have with people will see us through because they possess qualities that no amount of numbers could ever do. They are empathetic, trustworthy, dependable, loyal and will listen to you just to name a few qualities. Numbers can’t and will never do that. So let’s make sure we rely on friends and our relationships with them when we are in our darkest hour and need someone to lean on. Like Dionne Warwick’s one song says, That’s What Friends Are For.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
