How To Not Waste Your Life

“If a man looks at the world when he is fifty the same way he looked at it when he was twenty and it hasn’t changed, then he has wasted thirty years of his life.”

-Muhammad Ali

As you live out your life my hope for you is that you live it to the fullest. Leave no stone unturned. Learn to take a risk once in a blue moon too wouldn’t hurt. Who knows? It could lead to greener pastures as they say. Whatever you do, how you entered this world and progressed through it over time should look considerably different than we you leave it. Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Muhammad Ali reminds us that if we look at the world when we are fifty in the same manner or fashion that we did when we were twenty, then we’ve wasted thirty years of our life. That is a waste of 10,950 days and essentially 15,768,000 minutes that are lost for periods of self growth. That is an overwhelming amount of time that is lost. Not only does it affect that individual but it also affects the potential impact that that individual could have had on others.

Each and everyday we should be seeking new opportunities to grow and always strive to be better tomorrow than we were today. Netflix, the internet, and other things that are used to distract us will always be there. Always distracting you from the real work; from being the change you originally set out to be in the world. We need to allow our moral compass to lead us to discover new things about the world, about ourselves. We only go through this life once. Let’s make the most of it.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
