The Most Difficult Decision
“The most difficult thing is the decision to act. The rest is merely tenacity.”
-Amelia Earhart
We all have hopes and dreams. But it is within those hopes and dreams that there is one thing that separates them from staying hopes and dreams to becoming a reality. And that is the decision to act. American aviation pioneer and author Amelia Earhart essentially says this in today’s quote that deciding to act is the most difficult decision we face and once we are able to do this the rest is just accomplished through sheer will, grit and determination.
How often have you had something you had wanted to set out and do only to talk yourself out of it and put it on the back burner of your life goals so to speak And why did you do this? Most likely it was because you were afraid. Afraid of things not turning out the way you had hoped causing more of a setback. My answer to this is: So what. So what if it didn’t turn out the way you wanted. At least you tried. You put forth the effort. Just because it may not have turned out the way you had hoped that was just one way that did not work and there are a million other ways that you have yet to try. Remember it was the inventor Thomas Edison who once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” We have to realize that by deciding not to act we are in fact making a decision. We will never know our potential unless we try. Don’t rob yourself of a great opportunity that could make all the difference for you and for others in your life. No one ever got to where they are by sitting still. So move. Move forward in fact. Choose to act. As the saying goes “actions speak louder than words.”
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
