“Silence is unceasing eloquence. It is the best language.”
Silence is golden. I’m sure you have heard that phrase before. Today’s quote from Indian Hindu sage Ramana Maharshi further promotes this thinking as silence brings forth a relentless sense of peace and calmness that is often needed from time to time. It has a certain beauty and grace that allows us to be truly mindful of our thoughts, feelings, emotions and values. By him referring to silence as being the best language I think he means that it brings a sense of peace and tranquility in a world that can sometimes be less than that from time to time. I look at silence as a time to gather our thoughts and be able to better focus at the moment at hand. In other words, we are truly present and in the moment because when you really think about it, how often are we acting upon this.
We need to remember the importance of slowing things down a little in our lives, turning off that background noise to embrace the silence. This includes shutting off our devices too. Saying no from time will also help you to not be so overwhelmed with your to do list and can bring more quiet times to reflect and/or meditate more. Whatever you do make time for yourself to do this because our mental health and well being matters just as much as anyone else’s.
