Our Moral Compass: Our Struggles Shape Our Purpose

“The struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose.”

-Chadwick Boseman

When we go through certain struggles in our lives do we ever stop and think for a moment that perhaps the struggles that we endure are in fact helping us to reach our full potential? In today’s quote the last actor Chadwick Boseman reminds us that those hurdles that we face during certain periods of our lives make us into who we are today and further bring us to defining our why: our why for being here right now and also our true purpose.

For me, losing my Dad at 17 years old was without a doubt one of the biggest struggles I had to overcome but it helped shape me into the man I am today. Times where I was teased and bullied in middle school made me stronger and although it challenged certain beliefs that I had about myself as to what I was capable of, I never wavered; in fact it made me appreciate others around me that truly cared about me and I wanted to be their advocate in their time of need.

These are just a few struggles I have endured but have learned to overcome and persevere. I realize that there will be many more ahead in order to reach my destination being the best I can be and helping others to rise up and reach their highest potential no matter if they are five years old or 60 years old. My hope and wish is that I help to make their lives better while I am in their lives. That is my true purpose.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
