Becoming the Change: What Makes Us Strong

“Muscles aren’t what make us strong. Vulnerability is.”

-Jay Glazer

When we often think of what makes us strong the first thing that comes to mind is the outer strength that we may acquire physically by working out. It takes time, consistency and dedication to build up those muscles and although the actual type of exercises we do may change over time that time, consistency and dedication never wavers. In today’s quote NFL Insider for FOX Sports Jay Glazer points out that it is our inner strength where our true strength lies. And its super power may surprise you: its our ability to be vulnerable. As author, speaker and podcaster Brene’ Brown once said, “Vulnerability is not about winning or losing. It’s having the courage to show up when you can’t control the outcome.”

We may not realize it but each and every day we live a vulnerable life. No one knows what they day will bring, but due to our family or those we work with relying on us, we do our part and show up to take on the day. As she states, that takes courage because we do not know the outcome as to whether it will be a good or bad day. Yet we recognize this and still make the conscious choice to show up. That takes a lot of heart and courage. But just like the working out of our physical muscles, we are also consistently showing up and dedicate ourselves to becoming our best selves. Vulnerability is a beautiful quality to possess and something we should be always proud of.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
