Choosing Success Is Like Choosing To Be Happy
“Success is terrifying. Like happiness, it is often appreciated in retrospect.”
-Julie Andrews
How often do you take time to review the things that have occurred in your life and realize that the choices you may have made, although terrifying, turned out for the better and became things that you learned to appreciate? Those successes would have never occurred if not for your willingness to take those risks. Even being successful can be terrifying too as legendary actress Julie Andrews points out in today’s quote. She relates those periods of success like those of happiness. Both are often appreciated in hindsight. To me success and happiness are interconnected and we are the ones that define what we deem makes us happy or successful. We decide this. We are the ones that apply that pressure on ourselves which is sometimes warranted depending on the circumstances at hand.
It is my hope that we all decide to take the time to appreciate all that life has to offer and think about specifically what those things are. In doing so, a consistent attitude of gratitude will shine through.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
