Beyond Our Own Lens
“The beauty of social awareness is that a few simple adjustments to what you say can vastly improve your relationships with other people.”
Travis Bradberry
Looking at things from the perspective of others and empathizing with them is at the heart of what Social Awareness means. It is sometimes what can be the most challenging of the five competencies due to our own backgrounds and cultural beliefs.
In today’s quote our relationships with others can strengthen based on how we adjust our own sails in what we say to them. It is up to us to have the ability to understand social and ethical norms while appreciating the diversity of others. It is often, in my opinion, one of the more difficult of the five competencies to truly master. We must remember to always have an open mind to respecting others and their different beliefs in order to truly continue to grow ourselves as a person.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards becoming more socially aware?
