Moral Courage

“I find that moral courage is the most valuable and most usually absent characteristic.”

-General George S. Patton Jr.

As we may all be aware of by now it seems as though there has been an invisible line drawn in the sand. On one side are those that display moral courage and those that seem to lack having any. As General George S. Patton Jr. said in today’s quote moral courage is what he finds is most valuable but is usually a characteristic is rarely seen. Why is it hard for some to live life by what they value and believe in while others they do not even need to bat an eye in doing so? It’s a difficult question to answer and only one that can be answered by each of individually. We need to realize that at all times children are watching us and will essentially try to emulate our actions and how we conduct our lives; how we treat one another. So I think we need to do our part to help instill certain morals within our children so they can have that moral courage that General Patton is referring to at all times especially when times are most challenging. On they list 10 moral values we must teach our children today in order for them to live a good life:

1. Respect

2. Family

3. Adjusting and Compromising

4. Helping Mentality

5. Respecting Religion

6. Justice

7. Honesty

8. Never Hurt Anyone

9. Theft

10. Cultivate Love for Education

These 10 are also ones that we as adults should abide by as well as it is never to late to change. Morals such as these contribute for us and others to be the change we wish to see in the world.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
