“I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.”
-Augusten Burroughs
Are you someone who shames yourself for your flaws or one that embraces them? I used to shame myself as I was a perfectionist at everything. But as with time, experiences and age I have gotten better at this. Notice I said better but I still have the tendency to slip up now and again. It is a flaw but one now that I embrace. Because I know as American writer Augusten Burroughs mentions in today’s quote my flaws are interwoven within me with nothing but good intentions.
When we embrace our flaws, we are really embracing ourselves. And to further expand on Burroughs’ quote we also I think embrace those around us and their flaws too. We are human. We make mistakes. We are imperfect. All of these things and many more is what makes us beautiful. The relationships we have with one another are just as important as the one we have with ourselves. They matter but so do we. Our intentions should be pure. To care and love one another which includes ourselves.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
