Becoming The Change: It’s Better To Give Than Receive

“Transactional Thinking is in a way that says “What Can I Get?” while Relational Thinking is more about “What Can I Give?” Focus on the relationship today.

-Jon Gordon

Relationships are one of the most important things we should be focusing on now more than ever. And it is apparent that the greatest impact we can have is on the lives of others. In a way it is better to give than receive. As Jon Gordon points out in today’s quote when we think relationally we think more about what we can give to others. This can be our time, support, or most importantly, our unconditional love.

What we want to avoid is that level of transactional thinking where it is a me, me, me type of philosophy. It does nothing to help others except ourselves and our wants, our needs. This is egotistical and to me unsettling. We are here for the betterment of others; not ourselves. The sooner we realize this and give more of ourselves we all will in the end.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
