A Lifelong Romance
“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
-Oscar Wilde
At some point in our lives we hope to have a lifelong romance with someone. However as Irish poet Oscar Wilde points out in today’s quote it is loving ourselves first and foremost is is truly the beginning of a lifelong romance. And this romance will be the one that will endure the most ups and down because it all relates around us and no one else. We cannot love others until we learn to love ourselves. We matter. If we do not acknowledge this we can never truly experience that love wholeheartedly.
Think of all that you have to offer and the joy you bring into the world as well as to others’ people’s lives. It is important that we lay down that same foundation of respect and openness that we would in any other relationship. The biggest thing is like anything else in life is that we need to give relationships time to develop: with ourselves and others. When we take the time to invest, the rest of life will I believe take care of itself. So make sure you attend to that lifelong romance with yourself because you don’t want to live with any regrets.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
