Becoming The Change Podcast (Episode 727): Our One Choice In Life

Welcome to the Becoming The Change Podcast. Thank you for listening and we hope you consider subscribing to the podcast for future episodes.

Our One Choice In Life

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms–to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.”

-Viktor Frankl

We make tons of decisions each and every day. But as Austrian neurologist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl mentions in today’s quote, no matter what is taken away from somebody, our right to choose our attitude is the one thing that cannot be taken away. No one knows this better than he does. He and his family were sent to several concentration camps during World War II. He was the sole survivor as his mother, brother and wife were killed. Frankl’s book Man’s Search for Meaning was written as an account of his experiences and became a best seller and a book I highly recommend as it is one of my favorites. He chose to live, he chose to fight. It was his choice to control his own attitude despite the circumstances that were before him during his time in the concentration camps. He rose above and overcame so much. If he can do this, there is no reason we can’t either. Choosing the right attitude can lead towards a better tomorrow.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
