We Live In Our Hopes, Not Our Fears
“We don’t live in our fears, we live in our hopes.”
Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin has been their coach since 2007. In his time so far he he has led them to two Super Bowls, winning one of them and has an NFL Coach of the Year award to boot. He recently became the winningest African American head coach in NFL history surpassing the great Tony Dungy. What I admire most about him is not the accolades just mentioned, but rather his mannerisms and more importantly his moral character as a coach for his players. Speed of the leader, speed of team. His quote today is one that is a powerful one and is where our decision making capabilities come into play.
We can either choose to live in our hopes or choose to live in our fears. Hope is commonly used to mean a wish: its strength is the strength of the person’s desire while fear is a feeling of distress, apprehension, or alarm caused by impending danger, pain, etc. I believe hope is bringing forth inspiration while fear brings about anxiety. I don’t know about you but I’d rather feel inspired than be a nervous wreck. The latter is less productive and can have negative affects on those around you while hope breeds momentum. Hope only dies if we let it. And fear dies if we don’t feed into it. Again. It all comes to our choice on how to live our lives. So let’s let hope lead our way and let fear fall by the wayside on life’s journey towards being our best lives.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
